PRINT ON TISSUE LABORATORY -

PRINT ON TISSUE LABORATORY

During BookCity Milano and in the splendid setting of SIAM, the Fabric Printing Workshop was held.
Teachers Process 4 and Angela Florio wanted to rediscover traditional printing techniques combined with the most innovative technologies through the seric weaving manuals of the early 800, stored in the archives of SIAM and exposed to the public for the first time.

The Textile Design course is aimed at those who want to rediscover traditional printing techniques combined with the most innovative technologies (3D modeling, Laser Cut and 3D Printing with FILOALFA® materials).

The course includes the exploration of 4 printing techniques and the possibility of using the machinery of the Digital Manufacturing Laboratory.

For each module the students will realize their own personal project, elaborating graphics that integrate the digital design, the use of 3D printer and laser cut, with traditional techniques.

Shirobi: decoration method for bathing the fabric by binding or manipulating the fabric.
Bleaching: method of discoloration of organic fabrics through the use of bleach and natural masks or digitally designed and cut with laser cut.
Flocking: a decoration method that creates a velvety effect on the part of treated fabric. Pre-existing artificial or laser-cut masks are used.
Matrix in Rubber: method of production and proof of printing by hand engraved rubber matrix or through the use of gouges or printed in 3D.
