Makers united against Coronavirus
An army of Italian and European makers and 3d printing services mobilized to help during the Covid-19 pandemic.
FILOALFA® has decided to make its contribution by supporting many initiatives through which it has been possible to provide capillary help to healthcare professionals throughout Italy and Europe, providing visors, respirator valves, masks and much more when and where it was needed.
In fact, FILOALFA® has helped by supplying 3d printing filaments to printer manufacturers like Sharebot and Wasp, makerspaces and printing services like YATTA! and Fabula3d, and many individual 3d printers (you can read the list at the bottom).
If you have created a 3D printed project in the healthcare sector, write to us here
The Sharebot project
Sharebot, FILOALFA®, and Fiberoforce are committed to quickly providing material to anyone involved in the fight against Coronavirus. In fact, the initiative was created to deal with the request for objects and accessories for medical devices using 3D printers and at the same time to make a contribution to the Lecco hospital.
Hundreds of coils have been shipped throughout Italy and are already at work in the printing of devices useful for the protection of medical-health personnel.
The Wasp project
Wasp has developed a face mask created by a 3D scan that delivers a performing adhesion on the face.
Polycaprolactone (PCL) was used for printing, a material suitable for sanitation and skin contact. A variant using TPE was also created.
An interesting aspect is that of the interchangeable filter, which allows you to choose the filtering mode according to the work you face.
This is an experimental project, which at the moment has already been shared and cared for by various superintendencies with which the Wasp team is investigating useful aspects and critical issues.
Concrete help from Makers
There are many printers who report their production to us every day, a sign that there is a real need for protection and help in this period of healthcare emergency.
Among the many who use FILOALFA® material, we would like to especially thank:
